CameraCode² Privacy Policy
CameraCode² is designed to scan QR codes with less surrounding visual exposure. Camera frames are processed on your device for QR recognition and are not uploaded to us. Scan history contains QR code text results—not camera photos—and remains on your device unless you choose to act on or share that content.
Flexih Fan built CameraCode² as a commercial application. This Privacy Policy explains what information CameraCode² accesses, how it is used, and the choices available to you.
Information CameraCode² accesses
- Camera: Camera access is required to detect and decode QR codes. Camera frames and recognized regions are processed on your device. CameraCode² does not upload camera images or video to us.
- QR code content: The app reads the text encoded in detected QR codes. This may include text, URLs, phone numbers, messages, email details, locations, Wi-Fi credentials, contact cards, or calendar events.
- Scan history: Recognized QR code text and the scan date are stored locally on your device so you can revisit previous results. Camera images are not stored in scan history. You can delete individual or selected history entries in the app.
- Contacts and calendars: If you choose to add a contact or calendar event from a QR code, CameraCode² requests the relevant system permission and passes the decoded details to Apple's system interface. The app does not upload your address book or calendar to us.
- Wi-Fi configuration: If you choose to join a network from a supported QR code, the decoded network details are passed to Apple's system Wi-Fi configuration service.
Privacy Blur
Privacy Blur obscures areas outside detected QR codes in the camera preview. It is intended to reduce incidental visual exposure while scanning, but it is not a security boundary and cannot guarantee that sensitive information will never appear on screen. Please continue to handle sensitive information carefully.
Purchases and third-party services
CameraCode² uses Apple's App Store and RevenueCat to offer and restore the Pro purchase. These services may process purchase status, transaction information, device or app identifiers, IP address, and diagnostic information under their own privacy policies. We do not receive your full payment-card details.
Links and actions you choose
When you open a scanned website in the built-in browser or use actions such as calling, messaging, emailing, opening Maps, or joining Wi-Fi, the decoded content is sent to the destination service necessary to perform that action. Those services and websites operate under their own privacy policies. CameraCode² does not control their data practices.
Diagnostics
Apple may provide developers with aggregated or diagnostic information, such as crash reports, depending on your device privacy and analytics settings. We use such information only to diagnose problems and improve app stability. RevenueCat may also process operational diagnostics needed to provide purchase functionality.
Data retention and deletion
Scan history remains locally on your device until you delete entries or remove the app. Data handled by Apple, RevenueCat, or a destination service is retained according to that provider's policy. To ask us a privacy question or request assistance, contact us using the address below.
Security
We use reasonable measures and platform protections appropriate to the information handled by the app. However, no electronic storage or transmission method is completely secure, and absolute security cannot be guaranteed.
Children's privacy
CameraCode² is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us so we can address the matter.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a revised effective date. You are encouraged to review this page periodically.
